Jean
and Jane taught us that all students have the ability to implement Mastering
Math strategies using the mathematical language common for all grades and all
countries. We saw an immediate jump in our test scores at all grade levels
and we were surprised at the connections that our special education students
made using Mastering Math strategies. I appreciated the extra benefit of
having two master teachers model the teaching process for my teachers.

What is
great staff development program? A program that increase student
achievement, that fits the goals of NCLB, will generate teacher enthusiasm, and
one that changes attitudes toward mathematics. Can any program do all
these things? It is hard to find. However, Mastering Math workshops
hit the mark on each criteria. Our state Stat 10 scores went from below
the state average to above average. I encourage anyone in staff
development to use this program, you will not be disappointed!
